Like a Blind Man Running is a Christian book that aims to inspire personal growth and renewed faith for new and practicing Christians alike.
The process
Ideation
Coming into this project, the author had already typed up a detailed paragraph of all of the imagery that he wanted to include on his front cover. Knowing that we’d only be able to accomplish a portion of his requests with stock photography, I began my image search by focusing on the most important details (ex: desert vegetation, a man running).
Building the Cover
One inspiration image that the author liked was available for us to license, however, the horizontal photo didn’t quite fill the vertical cover space effectively. After doing some digging, I found a similar image that included the desert scenery and subject matter that he was wanting. I also added some adjustment layers to include a warmer color palette and stronger contrast.
Page Design & Wrapping Up!
Utilizing a simple layout that included the same fonts as the front cover design, the page design was quickly approved and applied to the final files. Since its release, this book has not only achieved a perfect 5-star rating on Amazon, but has made an immense impact on its readers. I’m so glad that I was able to achieve exactly what the author envisioned for his cover.
